UTV / ATV Scavenger Hunt

2017 UTV/ATV Scavenger Hunt with proceeds going to PADD.  The Scavenger Hunt focuses on no cell phone use while driving on the trails.  Eagle River northwoods businesses have stepped in to be a part of this event with pit stops along the way, where the scavenger items may be found.  The PADD UTV/ATV Scavenger Hunt is open August 14-20th and registration is located at the Derby Track office in Eagle River.

Texting while driving is a growing trend, and a national epidemic, quickly becoming one of the country’s top killers. Drivers assume they can handle texting while driving and remain safe, but the numbers don’t lie. Texting while driving causes 1,600,000 accidents per year (National Safety Council); 330,000 injuries per year (Harvard Center for Risk Analysis Study); 11 teen deaths everyday (Institute for Hwy Safety Fatality Facts); and nearly 25% of all car accidents. Twenty year old Natalie Decker, driver for Venturini Motorsports in the ARCA series, has joined PADD’s Advisory Committee with a full commitment to help spread the word on texting and driving to help save lives. Natalie is a native of Eagle River, WI and will be focusing on reaching all ages within her state and beyond through appearances with her N29 Capital Partners, LLC Toyota; social media; at the race track; within schools; and even as far as helping change the law on driving and cell phone usage through legislation in her own state.

“When I was given the opportunity from N29 Capital Partners, LLC to race with Venturini Motorsports I read on their website that Musselman’s Apple Sauce along with the Venturini team were supporters of PADD.  After reading Mike Kellenyi’s story, founder of PADD, on how he lost his teenage daughter, Nikki Kellenyi, I knew then I wanted to help in any way I could to spread the word ‘stay live don’t text and drive’.  Four years ago I received my driver’s license and my family and I have always communicated to each other not to text and drive before we would do road trips.” Natalie Decker explained.

Since 2012, PADD’s primary objective is to raise public awareness, offer 24/7 support to victims of inattentive driving and to influence legislation regarding distracted driving.  PADD has helped over 1,000 victims of this epidemic which has now surpassed drunk driving as the #1 killer of our youth in America.  “Natalie Decker has done more to help end this epidemic in one month than others have done in years.  We’re thankful to have this great young woman on our team!” Mike Kellenyi stated.  Decker has made many appearances with her N29 Capital Partners, LLC Toyota to meet with kids and all ages to bring awareness on the life threatening dangers of texting and driving.  In July, Decker spent the weekend with the teens at the Wisconsin State Championship Water Ski Competition in Wisconsin Rapids and also made the trip to the southern part of the state to Yo Cool Frozen Yogurt.  During these appearances, Decker signed autographs, colored pictures with kids, handed out PADD bracelets, and took the time to get to know the fans and talked about how it’s cool to not text and drive because it saves lives.

Decker’s N29 Capital Partners, LLC Toyota will be on display at the World Championship UTV/ATV Derby presented by Western Plows Aug. 18-20th.  For more information on the UTV/ATV Scavenger Hunt contact the Derby Track office 715-479-4424 and for more information on PADD go to padd.org.
